Design philosophy

When I was young I already knew I wanted to do something with design, my father was the fist person who introduced me to design. I have grown a lot as a designer trough my education, internship and Erasmus. I developed a personal opinion and philosophy on design trough the designs I’ve done and seen.

I have designed products in different branches: concept motorcycle design, bicycle designs, industrial equipment, kitchen appliances, perfume design, products for elderly and handicapped people, game design, graphic design and plenty of other branches. In the last year I’ve tried to combine form and function in my design, to create products and designs that are balanced. These designs are designed to the minimum no more no less. Good design is in the subtle details that give a product an experience and character. This is something I look for in design. I like to use natural materials in combination with modern materials to create a high quality finish that represents craftwork. I prefer simplistic design with the use of geometric lines and geometric shapes and accent graphics if needed to communicate the cognitive use of the product.

In my design process I prefer working digital or spatial with 3D models, these are also my strengths as a designer. At a young age I started working with the adobe package. Resent years I started to combine 3D CAD with adobe and a graphic tablet to design more productive. To present I like to create spatial models and full working prototypes to represent my design.

I am passionate about the following branches: mechanical and innovative hand held devices such as kitchen appliances and tools. But my biggest passion is bicycle or motorbike design I prefer bikes to be as minimal as possible just the bare essentials but try to create and preserve the characteristics of the bike.

For me design comes down to this; quality products that communicate the use cognitively and the aesthetics value trough a simplistic design.
