How I do my work
For all my projects I use the same work approach, down below you can read how I start and go through my the design process in 5 main phases: analysis, research, concept, design and eventually realization.
01
Analysis
I begin with an analysis of my assignment, by looking into the design options and pinning down the extension of my design within the assignment. I don't waste any time on a design that wouldn't fit the target group/persona. My products for this phase are: new assignment brief, scope, planning, persona and a hypothesis.
02
Prime research
In this phase I focus on getting useful information and evidence on the direction within, I'm going to do concept work. This could contain; brainstorm session, field research, mood-boards, product research.
03
Concept
Because of phase 01 and 02 I already know what the precise boundaries are for my concept. I can now start putting all the Ideas on paper and build concept models with a good rational why the concepts would work. It is not a rule but most of the time I come up with 3 concepts in presentable form of which one will proceed to the next phase.
04
Design
Now I will start finalizing the concept in every detail and pining down measurements in 3D CAD files. Together with color schemes and the use of CAD Renders and photoshop I realize realistic product renders that will explain my design together with a worked out rational.
05
Realisation
The Realization phase includes all the deliverables I have set in my new assignment brief. These could be; Renders, prototypes, presentation sheets, report, CAD models, technical drawings, you name it. These would then be hand over to the client.
